COMPLETING THE COURSE
When students have finished reading the textbook, they must nominate an
administrator to supervise the DRE-approved and required open-book final exam. By
means of a forms included in the enrollment packet students can complete the
entire Exam and Licensing process by mail. An overview of the tasks and
milestones is as follows:
Applying for Final Exam and Nominating an Administrator
The Student shall:
- Not Schedule the Exam until 18 days from receipt of Course
- The student nominates an Exam Administrator
- Specify a convenient time with the Administrator to take the exam
The Administrator shall be:
- Anyone not related
to the student by Blood or Marriage
- A Real Estate Broker or Agent
- A Local Real Estate Board Associate
- A Real Estate Associate
- A Public Librarian
The Administrator agrees to:
- Mutually convenient time
for the student to take exam
- Have Exam taken on Administrators premises
NOTE: The student may not take the
exam at their home under any circumstances whatsoever.
The Publisher shall:
- Receive the Nomination and Approve the Administrator
- Send Administrator the Exam in a Sealed Envelope
The Department of Real Estate will:
- Reply by mail with an exam date
(if they applied for one) and detailed instructions.
Taking and Administrating the Final Exam
The State Exam consists of:
- 3hr-15min to complete the Exam
- 100 multiple-choice questions
- Open Book Test
- 60% is a Passing Score
- Scored on a PASS/FAIL Basis
- Detailed
instructions are Included
The Administrator shall:
- Supervise the student while they take the exam
- Collect the Exam and the Answer Sheet
After taking the Final Exam
The Administrator shall:
- Mail (not fax) both the Exam and Answers to the Publisher
- Mail the Final Exam the same day in the envelope provided (sealed)
- By regulation
the administrator is not allowed to score the final exam
The Publisher shall:
- Score the Final Exam
- Notify the students by mail of their score
After the Student Passes the Final Exam
The Publisher shall:
- Mail the approved " Certificate of Completion" to the Student
- Retain
the records for the DRE and BPPVE
The Student shall:
- Mail the Certificate(s) of Course Completion to DRE
- Mail the short and simple DRE application
- Mail the necessary fees to the DRE
If a Student fails the Final Exam
The Student understands:
- Not to worry, it's an open book exam and
failures are extremely rare
- Students must repeat the course
- 2-1/2 week minimum completion time begins again
- There is no charge to repeat
the course.
